During the 2008 legislation session, the SBRRB was tasked with creating a “working group” to review the process and procedures relating to rule-making as established under the SBRRB’s governing statute.

The working group, consisting of 10 members and meeting several times in 2008, produced a final report, dated January 2009, that was submitted to the Legislature and included the following notable findings and results:

  1. Recommended proposed changes to the Board’s governing statute, which were subsequently accomplished to help improve upon communication and flexibility of internal procedures and processes of the SBRRB; and
  2. Concerns over the SBRRB’s lack of awareness within Hawaii’s small business community, which have been an ongoing challenge with subtle improvements over the years.
